Simplifying Virtual Desktop Management
The Desktone Virtual-D Enterprise Center is a web-based management interface for the enterprise desktop administrator. Designed to enable enterprise IT to support large end-user and virtual desktop populations, it is built with a Web 2.0 interface for rapid navigation of large data sets and one-click virtual machine management. Equally important, it allows enterprises to continue using the best practices and skill sets already employed for managing desktops in the physical world, including those for OS and application deployment, Active Directory, help desk, and security policies.
The Virtual-D Enterprise Center provides comprehensive virtual resource management, virtual desktop administration and template lifecycle management capabilities:
- Virtual Resource Management: Provides the tools needed to create and manage pools of virtual desktops, which can be static or dynamic in size. IT administrators can define pools, create custom policies for usage and allocate pools to user groups. It also enables load balancing of virtual desktop pools.
- Virtual Desktop Administration: The Virtual-D Enterprise Center monitors sessions of Windows and applications running inside a virtual desktop. It also provides alerts and utilities such as soft reboot and shut down. An intuitive dashboard gives IT administrators an instant view of system usage and available resources.
- Template Lifecycle Management: Enables IT administrators to quickly provision and configure virtual machines, including CPU, memory and I/O utilization, and to manage master system images. Virtual machines are created from customer templates that satisfy the pool policy. Virtual-D Enterprise Center makes it easy to upload, create, update and retire templates.
